Hampshire Constabulary has pledged to become a more energy-efficient force and is currently aiming to reduce its recorded utility consumption from 2008/09 by 15 per cent.
All police officers and staff have a role to play in helping the force meet this target and the “Wave Goodbye to Waste” initiative aims to involve, educate and engage all force employees in helping to make Hampshire Constabulary
a more environmentally-friendly employer.
In June 2010, the constabulary’s first annual Energy Reduction Award was presented to the Isle of Wight Operational Command Unit (OCU) for 2009/10, after the island reduced its energy consumption by 8.4 per cent, compared with its own performance in the baseline year of 2008/09.
Sarah Thorpe is the energy management officer for Hampshire Constabulary.
