Honour Based Violence Action Group

This section explains what action the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Honour Based Violence strategic group takes.

Action group to prevent HBV crimes in Hampshire and Isle of Wight

The action group is a strategic advisory panel that is supported by both statutory and voluntary sector agencies  in Hampshire and the Isle Of Wight. The group looks at all issues under an umbrella heading of honour based violence, including physical and sexual violence in the name of honour, forced marriage and female genital mutilation.

By raising awareness and providing practical support and guidance for agencies, individuals and communities the group aims to:

  • Increase victim confidence in reporting HBV in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
  • Prevent HBV wherever possible.
  • Tackle HBV in a victim/survivor centred and robust fashion.
  • Work towards zero tolerance of HBV within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The group is formed of members from:

  • Hampshire Constabulary
  • Crown Prosecuion Service
  • Local Authorities (Domestic Abuse)
  • Victim/Survivor representative
  • Hampton trust
  • Police Authority
  • Southampton Primary Care Trust
  • Hampshire and Isle of Wight Victim Support
  • Probation Service

If you have any issues you would like the group to discus, please contact Hampshire Constabulary's domestic abuse and honour crimes lead, Inspector Nigel Scott on 0845 045 45 45.
