Anti-social behaviour in Latimer Walk and the Memorial Park was a problem.

We did: We have provided regular patrols in these areas in response to your reports of young people congregating in these locations, dropping litter and acting in a rowdy and anti-social manner. We have identified a number of shops being used by these groups and are currently working with staff to support them in taking action. Our anti-social behaviour officer has conducted home visits to a number of young people identified as being involved in anti-social behaviour. To date there has been a reduction in the number of reports of anti-social behaviour received and we will continue the above actions over the coming month to ensure continued success. The town centre team are focusing on reducing alcohol and drug related anti-social behaviour in the town and licensed premises.

NURSLING, ROWNHAMS AND CHILWORTH, BEAT 5

PC Trish Attwood, PC Steve Wildridge, PCSO Gemma Ryan and PCSO Stu McCloskey (pictured below from left to right) make up the team for Rownhams, Chilworth and Nursling.

Current priority for Rownhams, Chilworth and Nursling:

  • Tackle alcohol-related anti-social behaviour and motorcycle nuisance in the Lakeside area of Rownhams, including Lakeside Avenue, Rosebank Lodge and Welch Way.

***Our priorities are currently being reviewed and will be updated soon.***

Action we have taken in relation to your priorities:

You said: There was an increase in the number of vehicles being broken into especially in the Hillyfields and Nursling areas.

We did: We have conducted a number of high-visibility patrols in response to the increased number of thefts from motor vehicles at the end of last year. This has seen the number of theft from vehicles greatly reduced and at the time of writing we have had no reports of thefts from motor vehicles in Hillyfields or Nursling so far this year. However, please stay vigilant and continue to report any suspicious activity by calling 101.   We also held two street surgeries at Hillyfields in February. These were arranged by PCSOs in response to the increased number of thefts from motor vehicles in the area and the subsequent increase in tensions in the community. All addresses were visited and residents were asked to identify what they think the policing priorities should be for the area. This information is now being reviewed by the beat team to devise actions that can be taken to address these priorities.

Upcoming events

We will be running crime prevention events at the B&Q store in Nursling on Saturday, March 20 between 10am and 4pm and on Wednesday, March 24 between 10am and 4pm. PC Trish Attwood and PCSO Gemma Ryan will be assisting Crime Prevention Officer Melody Manning in giving out crime prevention information and advice. Please come and along and see us.

How you can take action

Come and see us to discuss any issues or concerns you may have in your neighbourhood at our next beat surgery:
