With the Test Valley remaining one of the safest places to live in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight it is important that we maintain our focus to build upon and develop the good work that has been achieved during last year.
While there is a focus on priority crime such as burglary, vehicle crime, drug activity, violent crime and criminal damage, it is equally important that we invest our resources into improving the quality of life issues such as anti-social behaviour and the problems often associated with young people.
Andover Sector has a strong working relationship with Test Valley Borough Council and other local partnerships such as Testway Housing. We continue to work together with these partnerships with the common goal of reducing crime and disorder and increasing the quality of life for everyone living in the Test Valley North area.
The rural team has been working in consultation with local parishes with a view to providing additional resources to target problems in local villages. In addition to this, Beat Managers arrange meetings in each of the parishes at local venues or using the mobile police office.
Are you a landlord in this area? Are you aware of your responsibilities in relation to drug use in your properties?
The introduction of Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) has dramatically changed how policing is undertaken within the Test Valley, with PCSOs providing an enhanced police presence around the various Test Valley neighbourhoods. Although employed by the police service they are not police officers. Their role is to support the enhancement of quality of life issues by dealing with anti-social behaviour through engaging with young people in the community. They wear a uniform similar to police officers but are clearly distinguishable as PCSOs. Their presence has already shown a marked benefit to the local area.
The Andover district is split onto three neighbourhoods; each neighbourhood has a Sergeant and a team of Safer Neighborhoods Officers and PCSOs that work in each area.
Andover North is led by Sergeant Andy Noble, and covers the town area north of the Weyhill Road, including Charlton, Saxonfields, Cricketers Way, Roman Way, King Arthur's Way and Enham Alamein.
Sergeant Dave Phillips covers Andover South, which is the area south of the Weyhill Road, including Burghclere Down, Barlows Lane area, Old Winton Road and London Road to the Walworth Estate.
Sergeant Glenn Curtis leads the team for the rurals area, covering the Stockbridge, Broughton and Kings Sombourne localities, as well as the villages surrounding Andover, as far north as Hurstbourne Tarrant.
In addition to their normal responsibilities Andover police support local businesses in the area by running such schemes as Pub Watch and Shop Watch as well as local events such as race days at Thruxton and Middle Wallop Airshow.

Could you give a few hours to help police in your community?
Police support volunteers are people with the time to give and the enthusiasm to make a difference. You don't necessarily need to have any particular skills - although specialists are always welcome - just the right attitude and community values.
Having the support of people who give up their time and talents to help their local police teams means that we can keep officers and staff where you want them to be - out of offices and actively working in your neighbourhoods.
Perhaps you want to increase your skills and become more employable, perhaps you are recently retired with more spare time and skills to put to good use, or perhaps you are simply motivated to do something meaningful with your spare time. The hours can be flexible to suit you and your commitments, and the roles vary from administration support to victim contact work.
Find out more and apply on our website, www.hampshire.police.uk or call us on 101. We look forward to welcoming you to the team! Local Performance Information
