New Forest North Safer Neighbourhoods team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods team is made up of police officers, special constables, police community support officers or volunteers. We are working together with the community and other partners to tackle local problems and improve the quality of life in your neighbourhood.

Locally, we work with your community to find out what matters most where you live. We will work with you and our partner agencies to agree the main priorities for the area and how we will work together to tackle them.

Our main priorities are:

  • Reducing youth nuisance and anti-social behaviour at Roundhills Car Park and in Fordingbridge town
  • Reducing the number of thefts from vehicles parked at New Forest beauty spots and in Fordingbridge
  • Reducing youth nuisance at Fordingbridge recreation park in the evenings

These are the priorities that people in your local area have agreed with the Safer Neighbourhoods team. You can influence these priorities by contacting your team, attending a meeting or speaking to members of the team when you see them out and about.

Actions we have taken in relation to your priorities

The team continue to support the local Pub Watch and Shop Watch schemes and have directed targeted patrols to known hot-spots for anti-social behaviour and disorder. The ‘Pub Watch’ scheme has resulted in the banning of known offenders from any pub in Fordingbridge while ‘Shop Watch’ has helped to reduce numbers of shoplifting incidents.

Targeting speeding motorists is an ongoing priority for the teams across the Lyndhurst and New Forest North areas. Regular speed enfocement operations are conducted in conjunction with our Roads Policing Unit. Drivers caught exceeding the speed limit have been dealt with through issuing fixed penalty notices, referring them for driver awareness training and giving the advice about the dangers of speeding and also the dangers of hitting a roaming animal at high speed.

Community engagement with councils, schools and other partner agencies across all beat areas are a regular part of the team's weekly schedule and we continue to develop excellent working relationships.

The aims of my team through the Safer Neighbourhoods framework are:

  • To reduce the fear of crime within their community.
  • Reduce levels of criminal damage, anti-social behaviour and calls to the police regarding anti-social conduct.
  • Improve our communication with all members of the community
  • Work towards a partnership approach to address issues and priorities identified by the community

Beat Reports
There is a beat report created on a bi-monthly basis for each of the beats within the New Forest North team area. These are distributed within the community to update you on what the priorities are for your local officers, and how they are working to tackle them, as well as giving crime prevention advice and details of upcoming meetings.
