Inspector Alex Reading is responsible for overseeing the policing of Hythe and the surrounding areas.
The local policing teams are continuously looking to reduce crime, reduce the fear and perception of crime and tackle anti-social behaviour so that the area remains a safe and pleasant area to live, work and visit. Crime levels are relatively low in this area, and the New Forest as the whole, but nevertheless, our teams work hard to bring any offenders to justice and to improve the quality of life for residents.
Police in Hythe are keen to promote partnership working to deal with any issues that are affecting members of our communities and are involved in a number of partnerships, involving the various Parish Councils, housing associations, youth groups and outreach workers. We also aim to work closely with you, the community, and urge you to get in contact with us if there are any concerns or issues in your neighbourhood which you feel we should be made aware of. We want to know what your community priorities are so that we can work to address them.
The Safer Neighbourhoods officers conduct high visibility patrols on foot, by cycle and in their patrol vehicles. They also hold regular beat surgeries where you can meet with them to discuss any concerns or issues in person. More details of these can be found on the New Forest East Safer Neighbourhoods team's page.
Neighbourhood Watch is a great scheme that gets people working together to make their communities safer. If you are interested in finding out about existing schemes running in your area or would like to find out about how to set up a new scheme then please visit the Neighbourhood Watch website or contact your Safer Neighbourhoods team.
