There is a local Safer Neighbourhoods policing team that covers every part of the Western area and if you don’t know who your team is for the area where you live or work, or you want to find out what they are doing for you, please find out more about them through the links on this web site. Their work is set by your priorities so if you want to have a say in that, then please contact them. They will be pleased to hear from you. You can contact us about any policing issue by using 'Your Voice Counts' on this site.
The Western Area is coterminous with the Southampton City, New Forest District, Eastleigh Borough and Test Valley Borough (South) local authority boundaries. It covers an area of nearly 700 square miles, much of which is rural. with a population of more than half-million living in close to 200,000 households.
Western Area currently has more than 900 police officers and approximately 200 police staff serving their communities from 14 operational police stations.
Over the next year we will continue the drive to make the best use of our resources and to equip our teams to deliver.
Key areas include
· A drive to grow both the Special Constabulary and Volunteers locally
· A push on areas for collaboration between neighbouring force areas and with other public bodies
· A review of processes and an increasing our internal communications, to ensure we are operating as a highly effective team in every area.
