Inspector Doug Ashman is responsible for the policing of Southampton Central.
- Doug joined Hampshire Constabulary in 1999 and has a strong operational background in neighbourhood policing having served in Basingstoke, Isle of Wight, Aldershot, Yateley, Alton and in the office of the Assistant Chief Constable at Headquarters.
Doug describes the priorities for his teams: "I am focused on making our area safer and feel safer, providing an excellent service and ensuring our community know who their Safer Neighbourhoods teams are, know how to contact them and how you can influence local priorities. After all we are your police service."
"My team's tenacity to pursue with vigour those who blight the community through crime or anti-social behaviour has seen recorded levels of crime and disorder continually fall. Safer Neighbourhood policing is about accessiblity to the public, being easy to contact and having familiar faces on the street that are part of the community."
"To keep things safe and make the area even safer we need your help - we need feedback on what we are doing well and what you think we could do better. I encourage you to have your say, attend your local residents' meeting, contact your Safer Neighbourhoods team (details below) or anonymously via our Your Voice Counts Service.
"If you really want to make a difference to your community there are lots of ways you can get involved as a volunteer, contact us for more information"
