"Throughout the year we have made significant inroads in tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) which has reduced again this year. Operation Nemesis is currently a force wide initiative focusing on offenders who are committing burglaries and vehicle crime. Bitterne Police are making this the focus of their efforts over the coming months.
"The quality of life issues for residents within Bitterne is an area that we already work closely with our partner agencies to tackle. Reducing crime and reducing the fear of crime. We don’t want our community to fear crime, we want the criminals within it to fear it. We will continue to bring them to justice and lower crime rates within the area.
"The offer of a personal visit to every victim of crime is something we aim to provide. Those people taking advantage of this will also receive details of your local Safer Neighbourhoods team and a leaflet for you to complete and return, to tell us about issues in your area. It is important to my team that when these are returned that we learn more about what is important to the people we serve.
"We have enjoyed successful operations in relation to over powered mopeds which has had further impact on anti-social behaviour and road safety.
"Our team is keen to expand the Neighbourhood Watch schemes and address the flow of information to and from our community and are always looking for volunteers to become active members of the scheme.
"At present we are working hard to tackle vehicle crime and burglaries in the area. I would urge people to ensure that they never leave anything on show within their vehicle and they always lock and set any security device. I would also urge people to ensure that they lock their doors and windows of their homes so that they do not become victims of an opportunist criminal. We are launching initiatives in relation to under age drinking and purchasing of alcohol and knife crime education and enforcement.
"It is important that we act on information that our community can give us about criminal activity so that we can safeguard the people of Bitterne.
"Please, if you see anything suspicious report it directly to the police or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and the information will be assessed and acted upon appropriately." .
