Community Tasking Group-how to influence policing priorities

The Community Tasking Group is made up of key professionals from various organisations and their objective is to work in partnership to resolve local community priorities.

This group works to resolve quality of life issues that impact on the local community and often include anti social behaviour, youth problems, environmental issues and anything else that could have a negative impact on your and your neighbours lives.

As a member of the local community you have a voice and your concerns can be delivered to this group for action. The CTG is attended by your local Safer Neighbourhood police team and your local Councillors along with many other partners.

If you have a concern about quality of life issues as an individual or as a group of people then please contact these who will take your concerns to the group and update you of any action agreed.

Police implement new ways of contacting the force
Following last year’s in-depth review into the way front office services are used by the public, Hampshire Constabulary is now implementing new ways of how members of the public will be able to interact with the force in the future. As part of this new contact structure, the front office at Fratton police station in Kingston Crescent will no longer be open to members of the public from the end of Friday, March 16, 2012. The front office at Cosham police station has already closed in recent weeks.

Residents can phone 101 from the convenience of their own home for all non-emergency police matters such as reporting a crime, obtaining advice and information, or finding out about beat surgeries or other police events in their area. 101 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and calls from landlines or mobile networks cost 15 pence per call, no matter what time of day or how long you are on the phone. Through phoning 101, residents will also be able to arrange a visit by an officer at a mutually convenient time and place.

For those matters that cannot be dealt with over the phone, such as producing documents at the request of an officer, an alternative front office remains open at Portsmouth Central police station in Winston Churchill Avenue.

From April 2, opening hours will be as follows:

Portsmouth Central:                    Monday to Sunday: 8am – 10pm

Local Safer Neighbourhoods teams will remain based at the heart of the communities they serve and will continue to be available at beat surgeries and community meetings. To find out how to contact their local Safer Neighbourhoods team, residents can either phone 101 or type in their post code on www.hampshire.police.uk  or www.police.uk
