Aldershot Sector - Safer Neighbourhood teams

Welcome to the Safer Neighbourhoods Team for Aldershot

Sergeant Graeme Hughes and Sergeant Debbie Barnes are responsible for the Safer Neighbourhoods Team covering the below areas of the Aldershot sector.

Sergeant Graeme HughesSergeant Debbie Barnes

Sergeant Graeme Hughes has worked for Hampshire Constabulary since 1989, with virtually all of his time spent in uniform on front line patrol. He was promoted to sergeant of a shift at Farnborough after having spent a number of years in the Roads Policing Unit (RPU).

Sergeant Hughes is an experienced Family Liaison Officer (FLO) and Senior Investigating Officer (SIO). The challenge of supervising the Safer Neighbourhoods teams brings with it a new aspect to policing, which is quite different to that of response work. Sergeant Hughes is a father to four children, and is married to a serving Hampshire police officer.

Sergeant Debbie Barnes has been an officer with Hampshire Constabulary since 1993. She has previously served as a beat officer in Farnborough and as a sergeant in a specialist role covering the north and east of the county.

The teams are based out of Aldershot Police Station.

The Safer Neighbourhoods team at Aldershot will always look to provide lasting solutions to local problems and we will work alongside the community and with other agencies to achieve our aims.

We are always keen to hear from the local community and I would ask anyone who wishes to speak to their beat officers and PCSOs to attend one of the beat surgeries advertised on the officers' individual beat page.

Please feel free to invite your local beat officer or PCSO along to any meetings or events you are running. They welcome invitations and can either put together a short presentation or run a stall providing advice and information on all areas of police work and out work within the local communities.

We would also urge people to get involved in the Neighbourhood Watch scheme. It is a valuable community run crime prevention organisation that not only works towards reducing crime, but it helps to build community relations.

Wherever possible officers patrol on bicycle or foot to remain visible and approachable. Officers provide a visible presence within our communities, deal with community issues and look to address both crime and anti-social behaviour problems. They are committed to making Aldershot a safer place to be.

Over the coming months we are conducting specific initiatives aimed at targeting anti-social gatherings and groups, and to also address the misue of alcohol within the youth community. Please be advised that if we find youths that are drunk or acting in an anti-social manner we will be calling parents to come and pick them up.
