We are based out of the Hart Neighbourhood Centre.

Locally, we work with your community to find out what matters most where you live. We will work with you and our partner agencies to agree the main priorities for the area and how we will work together to tackle them.

Over the past few months we have continued to receive reports of possible drug usage in the area along with a return of parking problems in and around the Church View/Band Hall Place area at school drop of times. Therefore our beat priorities have been updated below.

The community priorities for Hook are:

  • Vehicle crime in residential areas in Hook
  • Speeding in Rotherwick

These are the priorities that people in your local area have agreed with the Safer Neighbourhoods team. You can influence these priorities by contacting your team, attending a meeting or speaking to members of the team when you see them out and about.

Actions we have taken in relation to your previous priorities

You said: To prevent and detect non-dwelling burglaries to sheds and garages throughout the Hook area

We did:

Non-dwelling burglaries appear to be at a minimum and, despite reports still being made, we now believe it to be proportionate and manageable. Patrols will continue in vulnerable areas and crime prevention advice will continue to be circulated in order to prevent further incidents of theft.

Residents are reminded to continue safeguarding their properties and check that sheds and garages are locked and secure.

You said: To target nuisance vehicles within the Ravenscroft Community Centre car park

We did:

Ravenscroft has been patrolled regularly and despite being a popular location for youths, anti-social behaviour has been minimal. Vehicles are regularly parked in Ravenscroft car park (near the teen shelter) and local youths are regularly gathered outside of their vehicles. On police arrival the engines of the vehicles are usually switched off and no music can be heard from within the cars. On occasions the youths can be heard laughing and joking, however, when asked they do apologise for their behaviour and, after a short space of time, usually vacate the area.

The Safer Neighbourhoods team is committed to ensuring that the issue of anti-social behaviour and vehicle nuisance within the area is robustly dealt with and continued residential support is appreciated.

Residents are being encouraged to call incidents into us using the 101 service or call 0845 045 45 45.

You said: Speeding vehicles throughout The Street, Rotherwick

We did:

For the last month we have again not received any complaints from local residents about speeding through the village. On each occasion a traffic officer has conducted speed traps, however not one driver was caught going above the speed limit of 30mph. A resident and parent did raise that parking in and around the school at drop off / pick up times causes a bit of an issue so the beat team will increase high-visibility patrolling to deter erratic driving and inappropriate parking.

Local officers are maintaining regular contact with the Rotherwick Parish Council in regards to developments in relation to this community priority.

Bike thefts

There have been reports in the past of mountain bike thefts, especially from residents' garages, unsecured bikes from Tesco and from the bike rack at the train station.

If you would like your bike security marked then please get in contact with one of the local PCSOs who will be more than happy to help.

Neighbourhood Watch

If you are not a member of the local Neighbourhood Watch scheme, and would like to find out more about Neighbourhood Watch please contact us, details of how to do this are at the bottom of this web page.

Contacting us

Please remember that there are various ways that you can contact the police. Consider how urgent your call is. If there is a crime in progress it is better that we arrive at the time, whilst the relevant people are still about.

If you return home to find damage then contacting 101 will enable the police to respond at a convenient time for all.

Emails and messages to the Hook beat office will not get such a quick response since they depend on one of the officers being in the office - we try to be out and about most of the time.

We do not have a police station at Hook, however if you would like to speak to a member of the team we are happy to meet you at the Hart Neighbourhood Centre by prior arrangement.
