Inspector Geoff Scrutton is responsible for the Safer Neighbourhoods Teams within Hart district.
Wherever a person lives throughout the Hart district, they have a local Safer Neighbourhood Team consisting of police constables and Police Community Support Officers.
The underlying aim of each team is to increase the engagement that we have with the community, to identify what are the community's main concerns and develop methods of reducing these issues in partnership with external agencies and the community itself.
Each district neighbourhood, more traditionally known as a 'beat', will be regularly publishing the three main community priorities for their areas, listing what they are doing to tackle these issues and ways you can contact the team. To find out now which officers cover your neighbourhood, please click on the link above to your area.
The community beat officers are now known as Safer Neighbourhood Managers, working together with their PCSOs, special constables, partnership organisations and the community they serve to focus on the district's priorities.
One of the main aims during the next 12 months is to increase our community engagement, to identify and understand the issues affecting a local community and work together to resolve any such problems.
"Hart district is a safe place to live, but we will continually strive to make it even safer."
Update:
Hampshire Constabulary's anti-social behaviour campaign is under way with the aim of reducing incidents of rowdy, inconsiderate and other forms of anti-social behaviour. A tailor made programme has been devised for Hart to reflect local concerns and priorities. The programme is based on three strands of 'identifying', 'engaging' and 'diverting'.
In doing so we have tried to provide the right balance between being able to respond in a timely fashion and providing a visible and accessible presence in the community. We will be providing extra patrols dedicated to responding to anti-social behaviour. These will be at the times and in the places where intelligence suggests they will be most effective.
We will also be concentrating on enforcing the law around sales of alcohol to under 18s and actively looking for opportunities to use our powers to confiscate alcohol from minors.
As well as applying the law we have also identified many opportunities, in conjunction with partners, to become involved in diversionary activities for youngsters with the intention of giving them something worthwhile to do and steering them away from rowdy and inconsiderate behaviour.
Some examples are the Soccer@6 programme with Aldershot Football Club which is running very well in Yateley, Hook and Fleet. We are also involved in taking youths fishing as part of the 'Get With' programme and have provided bikes for the cycle maintenance course run by Hart District Council.
I should stress that these activities are not 'rewards for bad behaviour' but are open to anyone in the district although places are obviously limited.More information about the campaign is available on our website.
