Hart and Rushmoor's District Commander is Chief Inspector Sarah Jackson.
Ch Insp Jackson is responsible for the team who deliver a policing service to those who live in, work in or visit the Hart district area.
That team is made up of three Safer Neighbourhood Teams, based at Fleet, Yateley and Hook, and who work with local communities and partners to address the local concerns and priorities.
There are also five Targeted Patrol Teams, based at Yateley, who provide the 24 hour emergency response, and a dedicated Tasking Team who focus on dealing with those people who are prolific offenders within the district.
In terms of numbers of victims who have reported crime to the police, compared with the same time last year (April – November inclusive) there have been just under 4% fewer crimes reported which equates to 107 fewer victims.
The levels of reported crime in Hart are the lowest in the county, but we are still working hard to reduce this even further. Instances of burglary at people’s homes have continued to fall and are 26% lower than they were two years ago and crimes involving theft of or from motor vehicles have dropped by 30% against the levels in 2008.
The area that has continued to rise this year is burglaries at premises such as garages, sheds, stables, outbuildings and business premises. We have placed significant resources into this area through planned operational activity, additional patrols and crime prevention work. Clearly we still have more to do and this is likely to remain a focus for us through the coming months.
The re-launch of Farmwatch took place in February 2010 at the Odiham Cricket Club and was well attended. Membership now stands at over 80 farms. PC Mick Ames, a member of the Safer Neighbourhoods Team based at Hook, remains the lead on this but all of the team have been working hard to increase their visibility and engagement with rural communities and will continue to do so under the leadership of Sgt Dave Wheatstone.
The Tasking Team, led by Sgt Paul Maginnis, have again been focused on the burglaries at non-dwelling premises and have been targeting some of those believed to be involved in these offences. This has led to a number of individuals being charged with offences. The team have made over 80 arrests for violent, drug and acquisitive crimes and have assisted the district SNTs in dealing with community priorities. They have dedicated over 400 hours to these community concerns.
The team has also been involved in work with other forces.
Whilst the Policing Pledge itself has been removed we are still working to its principles in relation to re-contacting people who contact us, keeping victims of crime updated and responding to incidents of dissatisfaction with the service promptly.

Since December, I have become the District Commander for the new combined Hart and Rushmoor District.
It is my intention that the SNTs will remain unchanged as they have specific geographical responsibility and are located in those areas for that very reason. We are currently undertaking work to look at the best option for delivering the most effective 24/7 response function to ensure all areas of each district are appropriately policed. In addition the Hampshire Police Authority has recently approved the purchase of mobile data terminals for these teams to enable them to complete vital administrative work whilst out on patrol, rather than having to return to the station.
I would like to re-iterate that Hart District remains the safest place in Hampshire to live and indeed is one of the safest in the country.
