Chief Inspector Sarah JacksonHart's District Commander is Chief Inspector Sarah Jackson.

Ch Insp Jackson is responsible for the team who deliver a policing service to those who live in, work in or visit the Hart district area.

That team is made up of three Safer Neighbourhood Teams, based at Fleet, Yateley and Hook, and who work with local communities and partners to address the local concerns and priorities.

There are also five Targeted Patrol Teams, based at Yateley, who provide the 24 hour emergency response, and a dedicated Tasking Team who focus on dealing with those people who are prolific offenders within the district.

In terms of numbers of victims who have reported crime to the police, compared with the same time last year (April – November inclusive) there have been 9% less crime reports which equates to 261 less victims.

As we know, relatively, crime in Hart is low, but we will continue to work hard to reduce it, particularly those crimes which have a significant impact on the victims.

Instances of burglary at people’s homes are at the lowest level for two years currently and crimes involving theft of or from motor vehicles are significantly lower than in the past two years.  One area that has seen an increase is burglaries at premises such as garages, sheds, stables, outbuildings and business premises. This will be an area we will be focusing on in coming months and we will be keen to seek your involvement in ensuring crime prevention messages are communicated to all communities.

PC Mick Ames, from Hartley Wintney, is leading on the re-launch of Farm Watch to improve our communication with the rural community in particular. This partnership, as with that of Neighbourhood Watch, is key in terms of having eyes and ears within the community to assist us in targeting those responsible for these crimes.

One of the Safer Neighbourhoods key priorities is engagement across the community to be able to understand their needs and concerns.  It is through this process that each Safer Neighbourhood develops the Community Priorities for their area.

Throughout the year the whole Hart team has been involved in tackling anti-social  through a variety of methods, including high visibility patrols of areas we consider to be ‘hotspots’. The reports of anti-social behaviour have decreased by 23.5% compared with the same time last year. One of the many reasons for this success is the engagement and diversionary work the Safer Neighbourhoods Teams undertake, in partnership, throughout the year.

Ch Insp Jackson sees keeping to the Policing Pledge as absolutely key in being able to provide the residents of Hart with an excellent service and this will be driving much of our activity and contribution towards local people being confident that the police and local authority take action on their concerns.  If there are occasions when we do not manage to keep to the Policing Pledge, we will explain why.

On behalf of everyone in Hart, I wish you a safe and happy 2010.
