Do you have a bike? - How well could you describe your bike?
It only takes a few seconds to steal one, so keep a record of your cycle details, and keep it secure to deter thieves.
Mark your bike with your postcode and house number Keep a note of the bicycle frame number.
This will add identification should the cycle be recovered by the police. Take a photo of your bike on your mobile or with a camera and store it in a safe place. This will help us return your bike if and when it is recovered.
Bike Safe Form - Please click on this link and complete your details.
Motor cycle thefts
Recently we have had a spate of motor cycle thefts in the neighbourhood.
Please read the following advice:
-
Ensure the motorcycle is secured in a locked shed or garage when not in use
-
Mark the motorcycle with SmartWater or a UV marker
-
Make a note of the frame number and any distinguishing marks or features on the motorcycle and keep it in a safe place
-
Take photographs of the bike to make it easier for police to identify your property if it is stolen.
Street Watch
Street Watch is a successful scheme now running in the Four Marks and Liphook areas. We are looking to expand and build on their success and will be looking to set up Street Watch schemes in the Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford areas.
Volunteers are working with the police to act as additional eyes and ears throughout the community passing areas of concern to us.
We would like residents to join the scheme, so if you are interested then please get in contact with us by emailing Sgt Bromell via the contact details at the bottom of the page or by calling Hampshire Constabulary on 101. You can visit the Street Watch website by clicking on this link.
How you can take action
Vehicle Crime
The district as a whole has seen a slight increase in vehicle crime.
Please take a few moments to read our advice to you:
Don’t leave anything in your car – if it’s not there, then it can’t be stolen.
- Choose a stereo that can be removed and make sure you take it with you!
- You should also mark it with your registration number or postcode, in case it is stolen.
- Thieves aren’t picky, so don’t leave even low-value items.
- Often thieves will smash and grab first and look later to see if what they’ve stolen is valuable.
- Don’t hide it – if you hide items under the seat or in the glove box, chances are someone will have watched you.
- If you cannot avoid leaving something in your car, put it in your boot before you begin your journey.
- Don’t leave valuables in your car even for a minute – it only takes a thief a few seconds to smash a window and get what they want, so don’t take the chance.
- Your car isn’t safe on your driveway – nearly half of all incidents where items are stolen from cars happen when they are parked overnight, close to the owner’s home.
- Don’t leave your house keys or anything with your address on it in your vehicle - someone could steal your keys and then let themselves into your home.
