Alton

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is made up of police officers, special constables, police community support officers or volunteers. We are working together with the community and other partners to tackle local problems and improve the quality of life in your neighbourhood.

Last updated on: Friday, June 10

The Safer Neighbourhoods Team for Alton Town is:

PCSO Lauren Miller, PC Pete Kelly, PCSO Gemma McKeownPC Nick Whitehouse and PC Sarah Kedge (not pictured).

We are based out of Alton Police Station.

Locally, we work with your community to find out what matters most where you live. We will work with you and our partner agencies to agree the main priorities for the area and how we will work together to tackle them.

The current community priorities:

  • Anti-social behaviour at Lady Place car park

  • Anti-social behaviour at Mount Pleasant Road

These are the priorities that people in your local area have agreed with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team. You can influence these priorities by contacting your team, attending a meeting or speaking to members of the team when you see them out and about.

Any residents who witness anti-social behaviour in the area should contact police as soon as possible.

Action we have taken in relation to your priorities

You said: Anti-social behaviour at Lady Place car park

We did:

The gates to the public gardens are now staying open until 10pm. Regular patrols have been carried out in the area by both police and park security. There have been a couple of incidents involving alcohol seizures from youths but in all, figures are down from last summer.

You said: Anti-social behaviour at Mount Pleasant car park

We did:

We have seen a decrease in the number of anti-social behaviour incidents in Mount Pleasant car park. Over 20 patrols have been conducted and nothing of note has occurred during these patrols.

We will continue to monitor the situation over the summer but for now we are confident we have the problem under control.

Offenders brought to justice

To be updated soon.

Alton Town CCTV

This is still working well and has helped us to detect and deal with many offences over the last month. We will continue to use this to help deter crime in Alton Town Centre and help us identify any offenders from CCTV.  Anti-social behaviour and violence will not be tolerated and we will enforce the law where criminal behaviour is observed and identified.

We continue to support the Neighbourhood Watch scheme and the Holybourne StreetWatch scheme where members of our community are empowered to patrol their own streets. For more information go to the Street Watch website. The members are able to provide visible reassurance and a strong sense of community cohesion. Further information can be obtained so please get in touch if you would like to know more.

We maintain and continue to develop strong relationships with local shops and licensed premises. Both the Shop Watch and Pub Watch schemes are operating very well and are supported by the new town centre CCTV system.
