Inspector Chris White is responsible for Safer Neighbourhoods policing in East Hampshire.
Inspector Chris White joined Hampshire Constabulary in 1990. He has a strong operational background, having served in numerous frontline policing roles in both specialist and territorial operations departments.
He says: "When I took the helm of the Safer Neighbourhood Teams in May 2009 I assured the East Hants community that we would work vigorously with them and all our agency partners to address community priorities, reduce anti-social behaviour and prevent alcohol-related disorder.
"You can see some examples of these efforts and achievements detailed throughout the East Hants Safer Neighbourhoods teams' web pages.
Between April and July 2010, compared to the same period last year, the numbers of crimes and anti-social behaviour in East Hampshire have dropped significantly. These reductions build on the continued success of 2009 into 2010:
- All crimes reported – down 13%
- House burglaries – down 38%
- Criminal damage offences – down 21%
- Incidents of anti-social behaviour – down 22%
- Assaults resulting in minor injuries – down 15%
- Violent crime – down 9%
This is excellent progress. It is now important to consolidate on these achievements and to continue developing the community leadership which delivers further successes.
East Hampshire police will work vigorously with our communities and all our partner agencies to continue reducing crime, address community priorities, reduce anti-social behaviour and prevent alcohol-related disorder.
In order to achieve this, the East Hants Safer Neighbourhoods Team will continue enforcing the law in a pro-active and balanced policing style, whilst maintaining its community engagement and educational activities, ultimately supporting our strategic policing priorities. As an example of these combined enforcement, educational and engagement activities, Operation Respect, our year-round district-wide anti-social behaviour campaign will consolidate on the successes already achieved this year.
Operation Respect will continue throughout the forces summer anti-social behaviour campaign and will involve every policing team across the whole of the East Hants District.
This concerted and focused effort will seek to identify, engage and enforce the law with those individuals and groups responsible for committing crime and social disorder. I look forward to bringing you more news of our successes across all our policing activities over coming months.
