News!

The Norden Safer Neighbourhoods team would like to hear from you!

Please let us know about any community concerns you may have by clicking this
link to email the team.

We have decided due to poor attendances at our beat surgeries, that we would give residents the chance to air their views with us this way.

Alternatively you can call us by phoning 101.

Locally, we work with your community to find out what matters most where you live. We will work with you and our partner agencies to agree the main priorities for the area and how we will work together to tackle them.

The community priorities are:

  • Stem the supply of drugs throughout Norden

  • Reduce violent street crime in the area

  • Reduce anti-social use of motorcycles in Oakridge

These are the priorities that people in your local area have agreed with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team. You can influence these priorities by contacting your team, attending a meeting or speaking to members of the team when you see them out and about.

Actions we have taken in relation to your priorities

You said: Stem the supply of drugs throughout Norden

We did:

This priority was discussed at the panel meeting and it was decided that this should remain as a community priority. High profile arrests and warrants continue to be carried out throughout the ward.

If you would like to report any problems or information relating to this issue please contact the police via the 101 or 0845 045 45 45 numbers or email the team using address at the bottom of this page.

You said: Reduce violent street crime in the area

We did:

The Norden Safer Neighbourhoods Team continue high visibility patrols and operations to tackle this issue that is causing concern for local residents.

You said: Reduce anti-social use of motorcycles in Oakridge

We did:

We have had reports of youths riding their motorcyles around the Oakridge area especially in the evenings which is affecting local residents. As a result, this has become a community priority.

We are currently conducting high visibility patrols and details of any anti-social riders will be obtained where possible. Section 59 warnings will be issued where appropriate and suspects will be charged for all relevant offences.

How you can take action

Community engagement

Do you have a bike?

How well could you describe your bike?

It only takes a few seconds to steal one, so keep a record of your cycle details, and keep it secure to deter thieves.

  • Mark your bike with your postcode and house number
  • Keep a note of the bicycle frame number. This will add identification should the cycle be recovered by the police.
  • Take a photo of your bike on your mobile or with a camera and store it in a safe place. This will help us return your bike if and when it is recovered.

Please complete the attached Bike Safe form, email it to us and store the details safely.

Beat surgeries

Come and tell us what is important to you in your neighbourhood, and play your part in setting local priorities.

Beat surgeries will be held at Hall For All, Forsythia Walk on Fridays from 10am until 11am : Dates tbc.

A new initiative being considered is taking our mobile police office to a local shop on a Saturday morning or afternoon so that local residents can easily approach us and talk to us about any issues they are experiencing. We hope to start doing this from August.

At the top of this page and below you can also email us if you would like to contact us with any community concerns or issues you may have.

Volunteering
