The Safer Neighbourhoods Team for Eastrop is:
PC Rowan McComb (not pictured) and PCSO Alex Wheatland.

We are based out of Basingstoke police station.
Locally, we work with your community to find out what matters most where you live. We will work with you and our partner agencies to agree the main priorities for the area and how we will work together to tackle them.
The priorities for Eastrop are:
- Reduce road traffic offences around the Cowdery Heights area
- Anti-social behaviour in Eastrop and in Crossborough Hill car parks
- Reduce the amount of dwelling burglaries
- Reduce parking offences in the Eastrop Lane area
These are the priorities that people in your local area have agreed with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team. You can influence these priorities by contacting your team, attending a meeting or speaking to members of the team when you see them out and about.
Actions we have taken in relation to your previous priorities
You Said: Reduce road traffic offences around the Cowdery Heights area
We did:
There have been a number of problems lately of people using mini motos and scrambler bikes around the area of Cowdery Heights. Letters have been sent out to all involved. The area has been regularly patrolled. Section 59s can not be issued as the bikes are being driven on the private land.
We are currently in talks about long term solutions to stop people using the land near Basing Road and we are also trying to get the land owner more involved.
You said: To reduce anti-social behaviour in Eastrop and Crossborough Hill area
We Did:
Drunken behaviour has been highlighted as a priority in Eastrop Park and the War Memorial Park during the evening. Some of this is youths from the outer parts of town coming into the town centre of an evening and then going to the park. Other elements are from the YMCA in Eastrop.
There have been extensive patrols of both the Eastrop Park and the War Memorial Park which have resulted in several people being dealt with for drug offences as well as underage drinking and smoking. Both the parks have been regularly patrolled by other police colleagues and the Community Safety Patrol Officers.
You said: Reduce the amount of dwelling burglaries
We did:
There have been two reports of burglary in a dwelling, one of these was an unsucessful attempt and the other was an ex-resident that broke into the property. There has been one garage broken into and several commercial premises have been broken into recently.
Patrols have been ongoing in Eastrop by both police and council officers and individuals that have found to be acting suspicously have been spoken to and had their details taken.
You said: Reduce parking offences in the Eastrop Lane area
We did:
The parking issues in St Marys Court appear to have dissipated for the time being, there have been a few cars parking there during the day but this has not been a big problem, leaving residents free to come and go as they please. In Goat Lane the parking issue is still evident, as in the Danes residential car park. Vehicles are continuing to park in very inconsiderate areas all day long.
Some residents have been leaving notes on vehicles and this area is one that will continue to be monitored.
Offenders brought to justice
We will be carrying out test purchase operations to ensure our retailers are not selling alcohol to underage people. We want to work closely with members of the community and have set up five Neighbourhood Watch schemes. If you are interested in getting involved please contact us.
In order to keep close connections with young people on the beat we make regular visits to schools to educate pupils and offer important crime prevention advice. We are also working with partner agencies to prevent littering and anti-social behaviour taking place at War Memorial Park.
Business Watch
Quarterly Business Watch meetings are held in Basing View to meet with local companies and discuss any issues they are having. The problems have continued to reduce in Basing View and we are still patrolling to ensure that they do not start again.
Neighbourhood Watch
We are keen to start more Neighbourhood Watch schemes. If anyone is interested please do contact us. We have recently started schemes in some areas of Eastrop and are awaiting final details of co-ordinators. There are many benefits of being part of a NHW scheme. It can act as a deterrent to people looking to commit crime in an area, it can reduce home insurance and we offer SmartWater at a discounted rate.
Information on SmartWater can be found on the Smart Water website If you are interested in starting a scheme please contact us.
How you can take action
Beat surgeries
Please come along and tell us how we can address some of the issues in your area. Dates will be available below soon.
Do you have a bike? How well could you describe your bike?
It only takes a few seconds to steal one, so keep a record of your cycle details and keep it secure to deter thieves
- Mark your bike with your postcode and house number Keep a note of the bicycle frame number - This will add identification should the cycle be recovered by the police
- Take a photo of your bike on your mobile or with a camera and store it in a safe place.
- This will help us return your bike if and when it is recovered.
Please complete the attached Bike Safe form, email it to us and store the details safely.
