Winchester is a large geographic area with many distinct communities which provides a challenge in terms of putting in place local police officers that each community can identify with.
The area is divided into 26 'beats' and each beat area will have a clearly defined PC and PCSO who will work together to tackle local problems.
Each beat team is supervised by a sergeant who has a responsibility to a wider geographic area. The communities vary greatly and we must strike the balance between tackling the big problems like violent crime from the night time economy in Winchester without taking our eye of the seemingly smaller issues that can have a dramatic affect on peoples lives in their homes.
Please get in touch with your Safer Neighbourhood teams by phone, email or attending a meeting if you have a concern that you wish to raise. .
Winchester is a very safe place to live when compared with other areas in the county, but we are not complacent about that. Where individuals are causing misery through crime or antisocial behaviour, officers will be gathering evidence and taking action to protect communities.
Officers are focused on delivering a quality service and complying with the Policing Pledge. This means catching criminals and protecting the victims providing reassurance to those who need it most.”
