Winchester District mirrors that of the Winchester City Council boundaries.
The District is 250 square miles and has a population of 109,000 people. It is divided into two sectors, Winchester West covering Winchester city and Winchester East covering Alresford, Bishops Waltham, Twyford, Denmead, Wickham and Whiteley.
In overall command of Winchester District is Chief Inspector Rachel Farrell, who took over in January 2009.
Chief Inspector Farrell has a breadth of policing experience in both uniform and detective roles.
Immediately prior to this posting she was the force project lead on improving how the Constabulary deals with non-emergency calls from the public. This followed four years as a Detective Chief Inspector on the Major Crime Department, where she was responsible for the investigation of murders and serious sexual attacks.
Chief Inspector Farrell has previously worked in Winchester as a Detective Sergeant.
Chief Inspector Farrell said: "Winchester and its outlying areas are thankfully a relatively safe place to live and work and I have inherited a really strong team who are committed to working with our partners and local communities to ensure it stays that way.
"Together we will strive to catch more criminals, deliver justice for more victims of crime and be active and accessible in every neighbourhood.
"Underpinning all our activities will be the desire to deliver an excellent service to those who need our help. I am very excited about the opportunity to implement work from my previous project role by delivering improvement in how we respond to non-emergency calls locally.
"We will develop our approach to ensure we can respond quicker and more effectively to more calls that effect local neighbourhoods. We will also be giving people more choice about where and when they see officers through booked appointments.
"Winchester District is a large geographic area with many distinct commuties. I am committed to delivering an excellent local service to all communities and listening to what people want their local officers to concentrate on.
"We will utilise 'your voice counts' and ensure a presence at parish meetings to establish what local priorities are.
"We will then report back to communities through meetings, beat surgeries and local publications about the work that the Safer Neighbourhood Teams are carrying out."
Details of your Safer Neighbourhood Policing teams can be found on the Constabulary website, along with details of your local monthly surgeries and future CAT meetings.
