Your local priorities

South of Butser Safer Neighbourhoods Team have set priorities which have been identified through interaction with the local community through the “Your Voice Counts Surveys” as well as reported incidents to police and other partner agencies.

These priorities are then decided upon with the Community Tasking and Co-ordination Group lead by the Community Safety Partnership at East Hampshire District Council and includes representatives from differing parts of the community including district councilors, parish councils, Hampshire Fire and Rescue to ensure they are community lead and reviewed monthly.

Currently the priorities are:

Whole of Neighbourhood

SPEEDING

You said through the Your Voice Counts Surveys that Speeding is the most important issue to local residents and work being completed on enforcement and reductions through all areas of Horndean, Clanfield and Rowlands Castle.

Rowlands Castle

THE THICKET / HAZELTON FARM / STAUNTON COUNTRY PARK

Vehicle nuisance (some believed stolen) leading to damage to fields and fences, and escaping of animal to cause damage to motorists. Also fires in woods as well as litter and general ASB. A review is currently underway to set the priorities for the whole Neighborhood to ensure that they are relevant and able to have action occur.

These will cover the whole of the Neighborhood and at separate for each Beat area however if a persistent problem in an area or issues occurs then a Specific priority can be set. These will be reviewed monthly taking on board the public’s opinion from Your Voice Counts and Crime and incident information..

Action we have taken in relation to your priorities

Sergeant Parkes said: “The aim for the South of Butser Team is to identify the concerns and priorities of the communities of Horndean, Clanfield, Rowlands Castle and the surrounding areas so that the residents and businesses can shape how they are policed.  Through regular contact and community engagement, the team has developed a good knowledge of the area so that they can ensure that they deliver the best service possible. This is an ongoing process and we are always keen to hear the views of the community.

“Our community enjoys low levels of crime making it a very safe place to live and work, however the Team are striving to reduce crime still further and tackle anti-social behaviour. We will achieve this by community directed patrolling, working closely with the East Hants District Council and other partner agencies such as the parish councils, dealing robustly with persistent offenders and supporting and protecting victims.”

The South of Butser Safer Neighbourhood Team brings many skills and a large amount of experience.  These attributes will be used enthusiastically within the community to respond to the challenges that this large and diverse area brings.

Expect to see the PCs and PCSOs out on foot patrol or on a push bike providing a visible reassurance to the whole community and please feel free to stop and talk and tell us what is affecting YOU in the community.  Otherwise you can receive our by monthly newsletter electronically (copy below), by emailing the team and once published you will receive directly.
