As part of the Gosport Community Safety Partnership, your local police are making clear progress in our task of reducing crime and disorder by tackling the causes and not just the symptoms of crime. As we continue to provide a response service to deal with everyday emergency situations, we are hearing from an increasing number of residents that we are a more visible presence with both Police and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) being seen patrolling on foot and on cycles in our neighbourhoods.
We know that this level of visibility provides reassurance and promotes a feeling of safety for everyone in the community.
Our policing priorities this year will be focused upon the following:
Violent crime – working to reduce and detect crimes committed in our busier Night Time Economy area and all incidents of domestic violence.
Criminal damage and anti-social behaviour – sometimes linked to incidents of irresponsible and often under-age drinking. We will focus particular attention to those areas where such behaviour is having a pronounced impact upon the quality of people’s lives.
Tackling re-offending and preventing youngsters from entering the criminal justice system – by working to assist those repeat offenders that wish to engage with partner agencies toward a more productive lifestyle, and dealing robustly with those that continue to offend. We will continue to be involved in a broad range of diversionary activities that offer young people a chance to develop into responsible individuals whilst rejecting all temptation of criminal and anti-social activity.
Increasing engagement with our communities – we are closely involved with the Community Safety Partnership in plans to ensure that all residents have an equal opportunity to access our services and have their say on matters that affect them in their neighbourhoods. As your local policing teams increase the number of opportunities to meet you and listen to your concerns, we hope that you will begin to feel more reassured about the safety of your town and that you have a say in the activities of your local police.
Should you wish to know more of what we are doing or if you would like enquire as to how you may help us to help our communities, please get in touch with me or my team.
