Your local priorities

Locally, we work with your community to find out what matters most where you live. We will work with you and our partner agencies to agree the main priorities for the area and how we will work together to tackle them.

Park Gate East Safer Neighbourhoods three top priorities are:

  • Titchfield – Greyshott Avenue, Tammys Turn, Ranvilles School – youths have been gathering at these locations on the estate.  They have been throwing food at houses, causing nuisance outside One Stop and trespassing in the school grounds where there has been damage reported. We will mount extra patrols with our ACSO colleagues and identify the groups responsible to tackle their behaviour.
  • Stubbington – Asda Car Park – there has been a series of thefts.  Customers load their shopping into their car boot and return their trolleys.  Thieves have been stealing handbags in those few moments if the boot is not locked. We will mount high visibility patrols to educate shoppers about security and also conduct plain clothes patrols to try and catch offenders.
  • Hill Head – Speeding – drivers are speeding through quiet local roads. We will use our speedwatch volunteers for education of drivers.  The team will also use the speed gun for enforcement where necessary.

These are the priorities that people in your local area have agreed with the Safer Neighbourhoods team. You can influence these priorities by contacting your team, attending a meeting or speaking to members of the team when you see them out and about.

Action we have taken in relation to your priorities

Titchfield

You said – Barrys Meadow – children are climbing on the toilet block roof and causing a nuisance.

We did – the team mounted extra patrols to tackle groups that gathered.  They also worked with the young people at the youth club to raise awareness of what behaviour was acceptable.  There have been no recent reports and the issue was resolved.

Stubbington

You said – Asda car park – drivers are gathering in the car park late in the evenings and playing loud music, leaving litter, revving engines and driving in an anti social manner.

We did – the team worked with management and security at Asda to formulate a plan of action.  The drivers were asked to leave each evening by staff and were issued with banning letters.  Those who couldn’t be spoken to, had their registrations noted and letters were sent to their homes by Police advising them they were banned from the car park.  The number of calls has reduced significantly as a result.

Hill Head

You said – Seafield Park - young people are gathering in groups, drinking alcohol and being rowdy late at night causing a disturbance to local residents.

We did – the team worked with the Council and Royal Navy to look at the problems.  We surveyed local residents to determine their views.  We mounted extra patrols and tackled a number of groups robustly.  Home visits were conducted with the youths and their parents to educate them about the impact their behaviour has on residents and to encourage more consideration and responsibility.  The issues are reducing due to the change in season and as a result of our targeting.
