Fareham Borough is split into two sectors, Fareham and Park Gate, and covers an area of 46 square miles with a population of 110,000.

The boundaries of Fareham District were brought into line with those of Fareham Borough Council in April 2006, but policing operations across the Borough remain largely unchanged.

24 hour ‘Response’ teams continue to operate across the District with their dedicated base now at Park Gate Police Station.

Fareham Borough is split into Safer Neighbourhood team areas each led by their own Sergeant with dedicated beat officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

Chief Inspector Jason Kenny is in charge of Fareham Borough and Inspector Pete Page manages the Fareham sector. Inspector Dean Gower leads the Park Gate sector.

Neighbourhood Priorities

We have been working to reduce crime and disorder in areas that the community have raised with us. Safer Neighbourhood Policing Teams understand the importance of tackling local issues as well as crimes.

All calls made to the police and other partners help us build up a picture of the sorts of problems and crimes that occur in specific areas.  We use our analyst to process this information. By listening to the community at Neighbourhood Surgeries, analysing letters and taking phone calls from residents, we have been able to identify neighbourhood priorities. We have also gathered information at the regular Borough wide ‘Community Action Team’ (CAT) meetings.

The main district issues that have been identified by you in Fareham Borough are:

  • Parking
  • Speeding cars and anti-social vehicle use
  • Litter

Fareham Borough Council has invested in 16 civil enforcement officers and is dealing with the majority of parking issues, and this team works closely with the neighbourhood teams. We regularly have the Safety Camera team operating locally, but after your increased concerns we have requested even more attention targeting local speeding hotspots. Many moped speeding offences have resulted in several prosecutions for dozens of offences. We have purchased a mobile speeding sign for improved local action.

Details of your Safer Neighbourhood Policing teams can be found on the Constabulary website, along with details of your local monthly surgeries and future CAT meetings.   Please let us know your local concerns as we really do listen.  Chief Inspector Shaw can be e-mailed at central.senior.management@hampshire.pnn.police.uk
