How TempForce Works
TempForce is a pool of individuals who have skills and experience that can be used within Hampshire Constabulary. At times of high demand or extraordinary need these individuals can be called upon to assist Hampshire Constabulary on a short term basis. Individuals are paid only for the hours worked, and there is no obligation to accept any work that is offered.
TempForce is suitable for individuals who wish to retain maximum flexibility about when they work and for how long. However, it is not suitable for those who require a guaranteed income because there is no obligation on the part of Hampshire Constabulary to offer work to an individual. Equally, individuals are free to accept or decline work that is offered to them.
Work will be available at a variety of locations across the force area according to operational need. Most of our assignments at present are based in Southampton, Fareham and Winchester Police Headquarters. There are occasional opportunities to work in the North of the County such as Basingstoke, Aldershot etc., but these are very few. The exact location of any work will usually be confirmed at the time the work is offered. Working hours may also vary, and will also be discussed when the offer of work is made. Sometimes there will be several days notice of an assignment starting, but on occasion the need will be urgent and there will be very little notice.
Registration
Registration for TempForce is via an application form. If the application form meets the required standard then the applicant will be asked to attend an informal interview to discuss their skills and experience and to establish the type of work that may be suitable for them. Pre-employment checks will also need to be completed before registration on to TempForce can be confirmed. Further information regarding these checks will be sent when applicants are invited to interview.
If you have specialist skills which we are unable to used at the time we will place your application form on hold for six months.
Applicants to TempForce are free to register with other agencies or undertake other work. As stated above there is no guarantee that work will be offered, and no obligation to accept any offer made.
Pay
Pay rates will be based on the role profile for the work being undertaken. The exact rate of pay will be confirmed prior to the commencement of any assignment. An authorised timesheet detailing the hours worked will need to be submitted before pay can be processed. Pay for the hours worked will be paid monthly in arrears by credit transfer into your bank account.
Annual Leave
Paid holiday entitlement will accrue with each hour worked (please note that this does not include overtime worked). The amount of holiday entitlement is 0.0957 hours for each hour worked, equivalent to 22 days paid holiday per annum. You will also receive paid statutory and bank holidays if qualifying conditions are met.
