Points to remember when you are buying an alarm system:
- Are you purchasing an alarm because you feel that you have a genuine requirement for an alarm, or are you buying it because you have received a marketing call from an alarm company?
- Your choice of alarm system may affect your insurance. Insurance companies may require you to use an approved alarm installer in order to qualify for certain benefits so please check your insurance company's requirements before choosing your alarm.
- When choosing an alarm company, check that they are accredited by one of the two independent bodies above, and that it is approved by Hampshire Constabulary.
- Obtain at least three written quotes that give detailed breakdown of costs.
- Make sure that the products are services offered comply with the relevant British or European standards.
- Ensure you are fully aware of all the costs before signing a contract.
