Hate Crime

This section contains information on Hate Crime and how you can report such a crime to Hampshire Constabulary.

For the police service to be truly effective and provide an appropriate level of service to the victims of hate crime / hate incidents, it is important that the community has the confidence to report hate crime.

A hate incident is defined as:

'Any incident, which may or may not constitute a criminal offence, which is perceived by the victim or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate based on age, disability, gender, homophobia, racism, religion, transphobia'.

In Hampshire we have self-reporting forms available at various venues, a copy of which can also be downloaded via this link Hate Crime / Hate Incident Self Reporting Form (.pdf, 123KB).

Please print off, complete and then post to FREEPOST COMMUNITY SAFETY DEPARTMENT. There is no need for any other details or a stamp on your envelope.

This is a way of reporting hate crime / hate incidents in strict confidence whether you have been directly involved, witnessed or are reporting on behalf of someone else.

You can also report non-emergency incidents to Hampshire Constabulary on 0845 045 45 45.

In the case of an emergency always dial 999.
