The Firearms & Explosives Licensing Department is located at the Hampshire Constabulary Headquarters at Winchester.
The department's main function is to administer the Firearms Acts 1968–1997 as amended, and the Control of Explosives Regulations 1991. This means that the department is concerned with public safety in relation to the private ownership of firearms, shotguns and explosives.
